Urethane die springs are a critical piece for the operation of die cutting where corrosion, vibration, or magnetism prevents the use of conventional steel springs. Urethane die springs are used to replace conventional steel springs which can fracture in operation and cause possible injury to machine operators. Advantages of urethane die springs include non-marring springs that are quiet and handle higher pressures than conventional steel springs. Urethane die springs also have a high load-carrying capability, high dielectric strength and non-magnetic while offering vibration damping \ shock protection.
Urethane die springs are easy to install or replace. Custom urethane springs are non-compressible and can be cast made of solid urethane or bonded to a variety of materials. When under load they will expand when deflected. When installing custom urethane springs, space must be allowed for the expansion of the outer diameter. 95 Shore A Durometer springs are the most common with a typical deflection rate of 15-20%. Additional Durometers are available depending on the specific application. When considering urethane springs please advise the pressure, strokes per minute and the material being punched for our recommendations.
